Australia is one of the world’s most culturally diverse countries, with a business-friendly government and strong trading links that provide a diverse range of opportunities for innovation. As the global competition for talent is increasing, the Australian government is working to attract the best and brightest to the country for the growth of a better economy.
The Australian government has created The Global Talent Independent Program. Through this Program, Australia specifically targets exceptionally talented individuals and high-value businesses. GTI helps attract their capital, ideas, and networks to make inroads into the country.
The GTI Program creates a streamlined Australian immigration pathway for highly skilled professionals to come to the country for permanent work and living. It covers ten future-oriented sectors to grow innovation and tech economies and create opportunities for Australians through skill transfer, innovation promotion, and job creation in Australia.
The Australian government grants Australian permanent residency visas through the GTI Program to people who want to start new lives in Australia. Australian permanent residents and citizens can also visit, work, and live in New Zealand.
Who is eligible for GTI Visa?
Individuals must be “highly skilled” in any of the ten target sectors to be granted a visa by the Australian government under the GTI Program. These sectors include:
01. Agri-food and agricultural technology
02. Industries with a circular economy, such as defence, advanced manufacturing, and space
03. Education, Energy, Financial Services, FinTech, and Health Industries
04. Tourism Infrastructure and allied resources
Other eligibility criteria for GTI Visa include the candidate’s ability to attract a salary that meets the high-income threshold in any of the ten industries listed above. Currently, having the ability to attract a salary at or above the Fair Work high-income threshold of AUD 153,600 meets the high-income threshold. The high-income threshold is adjusted on an annual basis.
